My Indian Paradox!

English dialectsImage via Wikipedia

Is it the necessity of every state to change the names of their cities to old, regional names? Is it necessary to put names of all places in regional language only?

I travel a lot and there are times when I am made to go round and round to reach my destination losing valuable time and health. This is what state has done for me.

Now another picture. A shop selling sweet meats and refreshments has its name board written in English mankanta bakeri and lassi shop. Doesn't it matter much to him whether what his shop sells is not written in local language? There are lots of other questions but only one answer. He has to sell, no matter which language or which caste comes and buys it doesn't matter to him so long as he is able to feed himself( a la Valmiki would have to feed his family but nowadays it is already known family will not share the burden of law, so primary objective is self)

Is this what the no-profit agenda of state giving to its hapless citizen. The language constraint of our country will always be a matter of debate, but still I am very much happy in this diversity. A joke which once I heard about us Indians comes to my mind. A leaf for plate, couple of stale rotis in place of cakes and eating on floor with whole family around. And yet he says, todays meal was sumptuous.
